The “Cross the Bridge” Contest of the 15th Chinese Bridge—Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students was held at Base for International Promotion of Chinese Language and Culture in Changsha on the morning of July 12, 2016.
Dean of the Confucius Institute at the Free University of Tbilisi of Georgia MarineJibladze, Director of Hunan Symphony Orchestra Xiao Ming and Associate Professor of Hunan University Overseas Students Center Zhang Jinjun were judges of the contest.
As per competition rules, 146 contestants from 108 countries were expected to be divided into five groups, including Asian Group, American Group, Oceanian Group, African Group and European Group.
Contestants from Asian Group, American Group, and Oceanian Group dressed in their national costumes delivered speeches with fluent Chinese, answered questions agilely and staged brilliant talent shows. Their wonderful performances won praises from judges and applauses from the audience.
They expressed their understanding of Chinese language and China via these marvelous shows, such as solo song, monologue comic talk, Kung Fu, Peking Opera, folk dance, Guqin performance (a seven-stringed plucked instrument).
