2014 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for American High School Students, sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and undertaken by Hunan University (HNU), was officially launched in the University on the afternoon of July 19.
At the opening ceremony of the summer camp, Zhao Yahui, deputy director of HNU International Cooperation and Exchange Department delivered a welcome speech and an official from HNU Overseas Students Center gave these students an adaptive training.
Chinese Bridge Summer Camp attracted 89 American high school students, teachers and related officials of Confucius Institute/ Confucius Class from 52 high schools and institutions. They will take part in summer camp activities for 11 days in Hunan University from July 19 to 29.
During the summer camp, students will study Chinese language and Hunan’s folk art, communicate with students from the High School Attached to Hunan University and visit their home, and toured places of interest such as Yuelu Academy, Orange Isle and Tongguan Kiln.
Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for American High School Students is organized every summer to enable the students to experience Chinese language and culture. Since 2007, the project has attracted over 3,500 American high school students to China.
