On July 5, 126 contestants from 87 countries arrived in Changsha to prepare for the 13th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students to be kick off on July 6. After 3-day cultural experience in Beijing, they will be accommodated later in Hunan Mass Media Vocational Technical College.
Most of them come to China for the first time. Thrilled with joy and happiness, they are ready to enjoy the competition and have a great time in Changsha, despite the fact that they come from different countries with different culture.
The contestants received warm welcome from volunteers when arriving at Changsha Huanghua International Airport. On the way to the competition site, Hunan Mass Media Vocational Technical College, the contestants also received their first presents, a variety of paper cranes from volunteers, on which the answers to the questions they want to learn about China raised in their return receipts of application were given. By doing so, the volunteers hope to enhance the contestants’ understanding of China, and also convey friendship and best wishes.
According to the schedule, the contestants will attend the opening ceremony, and compete for the “Cross the Bridge” competition, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the finals. It is learned that the contestants will also have a rehearsal for the opening ceremony and a full-scale drill of “Cross the Bridge” competition.
