Changsha, capital city of Hunan province is expected to handle more than 16 million passengers during the 2016 Spring Festival Travel Rush lasting from Jan 24 to March 3.

　　Local government held a working conference on Jan 20 to gear up for the 40-day-long travel peak. Changsha Vice-Mayor Zhang Yingchun instructed all departments across the city to intensify supervision and ensure safety travels during the period. So far, the transport sector is said to have formulated solutions for adequate transportation capacity.

　　According to Changsha's transportation bureau, passenger flow in the city is estimated to rise by 2.3 percent, year-on-year, reaching 16.07 million. Among them, 4.11 million will go with the rail transport and the high-speed rail passengers are expected to reach 2.8 million, up by 14.2 percent. Officials also predicted a 7.5 percent rise in number of civil aviation passengers compared with the same period last year, which is to exceed 1 million.
