The cooperation between Hunan Chenglingji International Port (Group) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd. & the opening ceremony of Chinese marine route from Yueyang to Australia was launched on the bank of Nanhu Lake on the morning of Jan. 8th.

The move is in an effort for Hunan to actively incorporate into the national "Belt and Road" initiative and accelerate the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, marking a great step forward for Yueyang in expanding opening-up.

The ceremony was presided over by Assistant Governor of Hunan Province Yuan Jianyao. Vice Governor of Hunan Province Zhang Jianfei declared the official launching of the two Port Groups and the opening of the marine route. Secretary of the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee Sheng Ronghua delivered a speech and Yueyang municipal leaders such as Liu Hesheng, Li Zhijian and Li Xiangyue attended the ceremony.

After briefing on Yueyang’s economic and social development at the speech, Mr. Sheng remarked that the event is of great significance for the city in further expanding opening-up and expediting foreign-oriented development. It will surely provide golden backup for Yueyang to better perform such development strategies as the national "Belt and Road" initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt construction, and inject impetus into Yueyang’s port development as a new “Growth Pole” of Hunan’s economy.
