Rednet (Quanzhou City) : As the first final contest of 14th "Chinese bridge" Chinese proficiency competition for foreign college students finished, ten contestants passed tests for entering the second round of final competition in Quanzhou City, Fu Jian Province, July 14 .
In the game of July 14, top 15 contestants had tough tests of quick memorizing dormitory rules at the first day of Quanzhou City. Each contestant of the groups must read the rules in Chinese and remember them quickly. Anyone who cannot recite the rules would fail the test for the whole group.
Xu Tianyou, the oldest contestant of Italian group, showed his extraordinary Chinese proficiency and leadership in the test. He wisely helped his team to finish the job separately by remembering Chinese dormitory Rules.
In the contests of Quanzhou station, contestants were divided into three groups to famous spots of Quanzhou’s including Tumen Ancient Street, Quanzhou Bay Museum, Theatre of Wooden Puppet for culture challenge.
In addition to cultural experiences and quizzes, formal culture tests are added in the final contests this year including listening comprehension and writing proficiency.
Eventually, ten contestants entered the top 10. They are Li Yue (United States), Matthew (Colombia), Sun Zhaoyue (Cameroon), Zhang Hua (Botswana), Comco (United Kingdom), Xu Tianyou (Italy), Shen Suyun (Korea), Kang Xiaoxin (Uzbekistan) , Ni Dongmou (New Zealand) and Mai Kaiping (New Zealand) .
